What is a service voucher?

A service voucher is a payment commitment issued by the welfare region that allows you to obtain dental treatment at a private dental clinic of your choice. The service voucher covers part of the cost of the treatment, and you only pay the deductible.

A service voucher can be issued when the public dental care guarantee period (3-6 months) is about to be exceeded or when you want to choose your own treatment location. Verify your service voucher details

Check your voucher for: the issuer (welfare region), voucher number, validity period and the treatment for which the voucher was issued. A service voucher is usually valid for 3-6 months from the date of issue.

When booking an appointment, please state that you have a service voucher and include the voucher number in the additional information. Also state which treatment the voucher was issued for.

Frequently asked questions

The service voucher is issued by the oral healthcare service in your welfare area. Contact the dental care service in your area. You can also ask for a service voucher if the waiting time for public care is long.

The deductible is the difference between the price of Dent Å and the value of the service voucher. If the price of the examination is €120 and the value of the voucher is €40, then you will have to pay the difference of €80 yourself. You can check the current prices at parastapalvelua.fi.

You will not receive Kela reimbursement because the service voucher is part of public healthcare. The co-payment for service voucher treatment also does not count towards the annual payment ceiling. However, you will usually pay less than in fully private care.

The service voucher only covers the treatment specified for it. If you want to have other procedures done during the same visit (e.g. scaling or whitening), you will have to pay for them in full yourself. Discuss the options with your dentist.

If the treatment turns out to be more extensive than initially estimated, the dentist will contact the welfare area for an additional voucher. Alternatively, you can pay the excess yourself or return to public care.
